WSAA guide to Scope 3 emissions management for the water sector |
The Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) has developed an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide to support the management of Scope 3 emissions for the water sector in Australia. The pathway presented is relevant for water utilities with varying maturity on Scope 3 emissions, from starting to investigate to those looking to set targets and actively report on Scope 3 emissions. |

IVL and KTH open new research centre |
IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL) and KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) have opened the new research centre, Sjöstadsverket Water Innovation Centre (SWIC), both for research and as a test and pilot facility for industry and other parties on technologies to make use of resources in wastewater. The centre will provide new opportunities to generate knowledge and innovations in this area, but also communicate the possibilities. |

Quickly and easily predict emerging contaminant concentrations in wastewater with artificial intelligence |
Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) announces technology developed to classify emerging trace substances according to their physicochemical properties and predict their concentrations using clustering and prediction-based artificial intelligence technology. This technology can be applied to (waste)water treatment facilities and can provide quick and accurate data in the policy-making process for related regulations. |

Water reuse and resource recovery from greenhouse wastewater by capacitive electrodialysis at pilot scale |
Paper assessing water reuse and the nutrient recovery from greenhouse wastewater utilising one-pass capacitive electrodialysis (CED) at a pilot scale. The paper suggests that CED is a promising technology for the greenhouse horticulture sector, aiding the move toward zero liquid discharge. |

Opportunistic Pathogens in Drinking Water Distribution Systems—A Review |
Paper discussing the issue of opportunistic pathogens in drinking water systems. Unlike frank pathogens, which always cause disease, opportunistic pathogens typically infect individuals with weakened immune systems. The focus is on identifying these pathogens, their characteristics, and the challenges they present to water treatment processes. |
